This is a natural, deceptively spacious and popular, family run site; you are assured of a good welcome. It lies in a beautiful valley, south of the Vercors mountains and the Vercors National Park, beside the River Bez. The 170 large to very large pitches, 118 for touring, are stony and slightly uneven (rock pegs advised). They lie in natural openings in woodland and some have views over the fields and hills beyond. In 2012, 53 new, large pitches were added, some with good views and 16 with a private bathroom. All have electricity (3/6A) and long leads are advised.

Hirondelle lies close to the interesting and ancient small town of Die, the home of the famous Clairette-de-Die – a sparkling wine mentioned in dispatches by the Romans around 40 AD. If you are lucky you may see red squirrels and beavers, and in June there is a wide variety of flowers including several types of orchid. It is a good site for couples and young families, to explore this beautiful part of France, partake in the local sporting activities and yet completely unwind and enjoy the views and the beautiful sunset over the mountains.

Six large toilet blocks offer all the necessary facilities (16 private bathrooms) including accessible facilities. Good bar/restaurant/takeaway. Small shop, including bread. Excellent pool complex with toboggans, paddling pool, water games and river beach areas (1/5-15/9). Ample play room. River bathing. Club/TV room. Fishing. Football, boules, volleyball, archery. Multisports court. Bicycle hire. Organised events (high season). WiFi throughout (charged). No charcoal barbecues, communal available.

Directions to Camping l’Hirondelle

From Die follow D93 southwards and after 5 km. at Pont de Quart, turn left on D539 signed Châtillon. After 4 km. turn right on D140, signed Menglon. Site entrance is shortly on right just after crossing a small river.
