Alan Rogers Review of Camping le Grand Large
Le Grand Large is a beach-side site situated on the Pointe de Mousterlin in natural surroundings. The site is separated from the beach by the road that follows the coast around the point. It is also protected from the wind by an earth bank with trees and a fence. There are 300 pitches with 89 places on grass for touring units. Electricity (10A) is available throughout (long leads useful). The focal point of the site is an imaginative pool complex with slides, flumes and water features. A small river runs through the site but it is fenced.
The ground is rather sandy in places with some shrubs and mature trees. Benodet (7 km) and Fouesnant (5 km) are near in different directions and the sandy beach is just up the steps and across the road. A family site, Le Grand Large would also suit nature lovers in low season as it is next to a large tract of protected land, Marais de Mousterlin, ideal for walking, cycling and birdwatching. The beach itself looks over the bay towards the Isles de Glénan.
Facilities at Camping le Grand Large
Two neat toilet blocks (one only open in high season, with facilities for children and accessible facilities, have washbasins in cabins. Laundry facilities. Shop. Bar overlooking the sea with attractive terrace. Grill restaurant. Takeaway (July/Aug). New covered pool complex and outdoor, heated swimming pool with paddling pool and water slides in a separate pool. Tennis. Multisports court. Small play area. Games rooms. Bicycle hire. WiFi around reception area (free).
Directions to Camping le Grand Large
Site is 7 km. south of Fouesnant. Turn off N165 expressway at Coat Conq, signed Concarneau and Fouesnant. At Fouesnant take A45 signed Beg-Meil, then follow signs to Mousterlin. In Mousterlin turn left and follow camping signs.
