Alan Rogers Review of Camping la Ferme de Clareau
La Ferme de Clareau is a very spacious site located at the heart of La Drôme Provençale, close to the pretty village of La Motte Chalançon with superb views over the surrounding hills. There are 50 very large, sloping, unmarked pitches, some under trees and others in a large meadow with no access roads. Most have electricity though very long leads may be needed. The site is situated within a sheep farm and one side stretches along the River Oule (good for bathing and fishing). Access is difficult for large outfits. Gas and electric barbecues only.
The old farm buildings have been sensitively restored and now house the site’s snack bar/takeaway selling local produce (including Pre Chorier, a naturally leavened bread), close to the new swimming pool. La Motte Chalançon is a delight to explore with its unique covered streets (calades). There are innumerable walking and cycling opportunities in the area and the campsite organises family hikes, as well as various sports tournaments and games for children. Further afield, the Vercors and Ardèche ranges are both within easy access.
Facilities at Camping la Ferme de Clareau
Three basic toilet blocks. Washing machine. Fresh bread and croissants. Snack bar (farmhouse breakfasts available). Swimming pool (min 1.2 m). Direct access to river. Vast play area. Games room (no TV). Low key entertainment and activity programme for children (6-11 yrs, July/Aug). Fully equipped tents to rent. Free WiFi at reception. Charcoal barbecues are not permitted.

From Nyons take D94 northeast for 26 km. Just before Rémuzat turn north, D61 through La Motte Chalançon. Shortly turn right across bridge (site signed) climb narrow lane to farm house on right.
