Les Places Dorées is, in high season, a busy, popular site with a lively programme of activities and entertainment. At other times it is quieter, but still has plenty to offer. There are 288 grassy pitches, of which just 60 are available for touring units, the quietest being towards the back of the site. Those nearer the leisure complex can be noisy in high season with the bar and disco closing late. Pitches are separated by hedges and there is some shade from maturing trees. A 20 minute walk will take you to a long sandy beach.

The impressive pool complex includes an outdoor heated pool with waterslides and flumes, a paddling pool and a relaxation area, plus a heated covered pool, spa facilities (balnéo, sauna and hammam) and a fitness room. One of the main reasons for visiting the Vendée is for its beaches, but the choice of activities and tourist attractions is equally impressive and includes gardens, abbeys, museums, a zoo, theme parks and châteaux with ‘son et lumière’ or participatory historical reconstructions. Those who prefer to wander round the shops or watch the world go by as they enjoy a drink or a meal are also well catered for. Nearby Saint Jean is a busy resort with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants as well as several large supermarkets and regular markets.

Three traditional toilet blocks are beginning to show their age, but seem to be kept clean. Preset showers and washbasins in cubicles. Facilities for babies , Accessible facilities. Laundry facilities. Bread to order. Bar, snack bar and takeaway (July/Aug, busy w/ends) with imaginative themed evenings in high season. Outdoor pool complex with slides, jacuzzi and waterfall. Covered, heated pool, spa facilities, gym. Multisports pitch. Full activities and entertainment programme and children’s club (July/Aug). Games room. Trampoline. Bicycle hire arranged. WiFi over site (charged). Facilities at L’Abri des Pins (opposite, same owners) may be used. Max. 1 small dog.

St Jean-de-Monts is 55 km. northwest of La Roche-sur-Yon. Site is 4 km. north of St Jean-de-Monts on the D38 St Jean-de-Monts-Notre Dames-de-Monts road on the eastern side, almost opposite L’Abri des Pins.
