Hi, We are going to France for the 1st time with our caravan, can anyone advise me on what adapters I may require for our EHU point?
Also We are travelling to Bordeux region and are planning on taking 2 days to get there from Zeebrugge, is this sufficient and can anyone advise me if it is legal and safe to stay overnight in an Aire Du Temps or similar. Many thanks Alan |

Hi you need to purchase or DIY a continental socket lead,i,ts a 2 pin plug with a short piece of wirewith a blue caravan mains plug attached to the other end.they retail about £4.50 so not too bad, watch out on French sites for reverse polarity as this could cause problems.you can buy a special plug which plugs into the caravan sockets and tells you if incoming lead is reversed.you would pay approx £8 for this, but it,s worth it,also if you find you have reversed polarity, you will need a short lead with the a blue mains plug and a blue mains socket, approx £2.50 each but one has to be wired the wrong way round ,i.e.live to neutral and neutral to live.if you dont feel confident enough to do this, ask an electrician as its only a 5 min. job.

Cant help with electrics, but we had our first holiday in France, caravanning last year, take your Alan Rogers book and book for overnight stops at sites as you go. We just phoned ahead about an hour before we wanted to stop and didn't have any trouble.
The parking area's you mentioned are not safe, we heard of lots of robberies taking place. Better to be safe than sorry. Its an exciting experience though, we had a great time, so enjoy it all - freedom!!: |
