This site is located just north of the town of Dieulefit. The name originates from Dieu l’a fait, meaning God made it, so it is not surprising to find a Huttopia site set in a managed forest, by a small lake, with stunning views over the town and across the valley. It follows the Huttopia philosophy of high standards combined with a sense of real camping, therefore no cars are generally allowed on pitches. There are 74 pitches with rental accommodation in the form of Cahuttes, Cabanes or Canadiennes, and a variety of clever wood and canvas structures. The remaining 91 pitches (66 with electricity) are for camping amongst the trees, although there are some closer to the central lodge which are more open. ‘Bivouac’ outdoor cooking and eating areas are dotted around the site. There are two pools and a good range of on-site amenities including a shop, bar and restaurant.
Le Moulin is a member of the Huttopia group and is situated just 300 m. from the centre of Saint Martin-d’Ardèche. The site has its own river beach and is well placed for canoe trips on the Ardèche. There are 121 touring pitches here, extending over the site’s seven hectares. The pitches have varying degrees of shade and most have 10A electricity. Rental accommodation includes eight modern wood chalets, 39 safari tents (many with a bathroom) and 16 Romany-style caravans. Amenities include a pleasant snack bar and a café. A children’s club operates in peak season, focusing on craft activities and games.
With easy access from the A6 autoroute and the N6, this attractive and welcoming site is perfect for overnight stops. But stay awhile and get to know this delightful region with its wine heritage, historical monuments and magical rolling landscape. This is a neat, well-ordered campsite situated in the heart of Beaujolais. It's surrounded by vineyards and just walking distance (within 1 km) of the pretty village of Fleurie (one of the premier Beaujolais crus). Here you'll find all the shops and amenities you'll need.
Camping Nature Parc l’Ardéchois is a very high-quality, family-run site within walking distance of the amenities of Vallon-Pont-d’Arc. It borders the River Ardèche, and hugely popular canoe trips are run directly from the site. The campsite is just 4 km from the famous Pont-d’Arc, a huge limestone arch spanning the river, and its river beach. A drive along the gorge is a must, with spectacular viewpoints.
Saint-Disdille is situated 300 m. from the beautiful Lake Geneva and the famous spa towns of Thonon-les-Bains, which can be reached on a bus that passes the site, and Evian-les-Bains. There are 297 large, level touring pitches on stone and rough grass (rock pegs are essential). Large trees give some shade. Those reserved for touring have 10A electricity and are scattered amongst mobile homes and permanent weekender caravans and can be some distance from the facilities situated by the entrance. The site is ideally placed for the large range of watersports in the area, and Switzerland is easily accessible by car, bus, train or boat.
L’Eden is open to touring units in summer and winter. It is beside the Isere river and set in beautiful woodland glades, perfect for winter skiing and walking and cycling in summer. The site is set in a valley with the Alpine peaks as a backdrop. The 115 good, spacious pitches all have 16A electricity hook-ups and individual water supplies and there are 20 mobile homes, bungalows etc. for hire. The clean, modern sanitary blocks are heated in colder weather and include a large drying room. There is a lovely covered heated pool, a bar and a welcoming communal area with bar and TV.
Camping Détente et Clapotis is in the Rhône-Alpes, on the banks of the Lac de Paladru. The site has 212 grass pitches, of which 140 are for touring units and have a 6/10-amp hook-up point, and there are 32 chalets are available for hire. At the front of the campsite, the touring pitches are located. These are quite open, and most are in the sun, but the large open lawns mean you have great views of the lake and direct access to the water.
This spacious site is on the southern outskirts of Privas and aims to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere. The site has 166 large, grass, mostly level pitches, of which 112 are for touring units with 10A electricity and trees offering varying degrees of shade. It is a comfortable base for exploring the lesser-known parts of the Ardèche with bus and coach trips available. On site there is something for all ages with a bar, restaurant, heated swimming pool complex and a multisports area with outdoor gym equipment. A welcome drink is offered each Sunday evening when details of the attractions in the area are given.
Situated on the doorstep of the Ardèche Gorges, Yelloh! Village Aluna Vacances is well-placed for all kinds of outdoor activities. The famous Pont d'Arc itself is only 15 km away, popular for canoeing excursions amidst spectacular scenery. The surrounding wooded hills offer wonderful cycling and hiking trails through the wild herbs of the garrigue landscape.
A great deal of care and attention to detail has gone into developing this compact adult only site and its superb facilities. Of its 45 pitches, only 12 are available for camping and advance booking is essential. The site is beautifully landscaped with flora and fauna and the facilities are sympathetically incorporated into a former textile factory. It has a very attractive solar heated pool and sunbathing terrace, with bar and snack service and on-site shop. The river is directly accessed from the site with a delightful bridge walkway crossing a waterfall and leading to a sports and picnic area.
In the heart of the Ardèche and close to the famous gorges, Le Ranc Davaine is a large, busy, family-oriented site with direct access to the River Chassezac and its pebble beach. There are approximately 500 pitches, 50 for touring, all with electricity (10/16A), for which very long leads are required (some may cross roads). Most pitches are scattered between static caravan and tour operator pitches on reasonably flat, stony ground under a variety of trees, some of which are pretty low, giving much-needed shade.
This is a large commercial site on the southern banks of Lake Annecy and has its own beach directly on the lake. The site consists of just 57 touring pitches, all with 6amp E.H.U. and some have a freshwater tap; pitches vary in size upwards from 90 m2 and are separated by low hedges; all have tree shade. Access to the site is good, and check-in was quick and efficient; you will be allocated a pitch upon arrival, and advanced booking is advisable. A bus which will take you to Annecy stops near the entrance and close to the site, as is the cycle track that circumnavigates the Lake. This site is very modern, all the facilities are of a high standard and staff speak several languages.
A large, lively, high quality site bordering the River Ardèche, complete with beach, Soleil Vivarais has much to offer visitors, particularly families with children. Of around 300 pitches, 130 are generously sized, shady and level pitches are for touring units, all with 10A electricity and many are situated beside the river bank. During the day the proximity of the swimming pools to the bar and restaurant terraces make it a pleasantly social area. In the evening the purpose built stage, with professional lighting and sound system, provides regular family entertainment programmes, six evenings a week. An additional attractive pool complex can be used by guests located in a separate mobile home section beyond the beach.
This site on the bank of the Ardèche, Camping la Roubine must be considered one of the best sites in the area. There are 97 touring pitches, all with electricity (10A) and quite spacious. Well tended grass, trimmed hedging and mature trees and smart tarmac roads create a calm and well kept atmosphere. The proprietors, M. Moulin and Mme. Van Eck like to welcome their guests and are available to help during the day – they are rightly proud of their well run campsite.
Camping La Vieille-Eglise is located at the foot of the Alps in Haut-Savoie, on a hillside on the shores of Lake Geneva, on the border of France and Switzerland. With 100 spacious touring pitches with views over lake Geneva to choose from, this campsite is a great base to explore the local area. The campsite itself is equipped with an outdoor pool, and indoors games room, mini golf and pentanque court. The campsite has a small grocery store where you can get your essentials for breakfast as well as a bar for refreshments.
Camping Thoissey Val de Saône is in the Rhône-Alpes region in the southeast of France. Many great attractions are nearby, such as the medieval town of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne. The site has 260 pitches, of which 200 are for touring units, and has electric hook-up points available. There are 20 accommodation units available for hire. You have many choices regarding the pitch type you want to stay on. Pitches are spacious and not delimited by hedges, but most can be found under large trees with plenty of shade. Sunny pitches are also spread out over the well-kept grounds.
Camping Domelin Only camp is in the southeastern French countryside, near the Swiss and Italian borders; just a short walk from the charming village of Beaufort, this well-organized campsite has 90 spacious touring pitches with 10-Amp electric hook-up points available. There are also accommodation units available to hire. As you approach the campsite, you'll be greeted by breath-taking views of the forested mountains. The open fields are dotted with tall trees, providing ample shade for campers during the summer. Each numbered pitch is generously sized and thoughtfully arranged, ensuring privacy and comfort.
Camping Castanhada is in the Ardèche Mountains Regional Nature Park the site of the 'European Grand Canyon'. The campsite offers a great view of the surrounding mountains and stands just 500m from Chassezac river and 800m from Les Vans, a typical Ardeche village. A drive to see the gorges and canoe under the Pont d'Arc is a must if you are anywhere in these parts. There are 47 touring pitches, of which have 16AMP electrical hook-up points available. Pitches are spacious and open, and aren't delimited but here are plenty of mature trees covering the site giving plenty of shade during the summer sun.
Situated on the edge of the river in the narrow Drôme valley, this site is within walking distance of the historic market town of Die, famous for its Clairette de Die sparkling wines. There are 163 pitches with 93 good sized, level, stony pitches for touring. Laid out under pine trees offering some shade, all have 5/10A electricity, although long leads may be necessary. The site is not suitable for large outfits. There is a full programme of events for all the family in July/Aug. The multilingual Belgian owners will offer you a warm welcome.
Camping de Peyroche was established in 1962 and is now run by the friendly Champetier family. The site is at the heart of the Ardèche and extends over eight hectares, surrounded by vineyards. There is direct access to the river Ardèche and there are opportunities for canoeing, fishing and swimming. Peyroche has 160 pitches, a number of which are occupied by mobile homes and fully equipped tents. This is a lively site in high season with a daily children’s club and occasional disco and karaoke evenings. It is also a centre for various adventure sports and the site can organise caving, canyoning and climbing excursions. The bar/restaurant has an attractive covered terrace and is open throughout the day.

With a rich and varied landscape, the Rhône Alpes is a spectacular region that includes the craggy gorges and scented hills of the Rhône Valley, the deep valleys and mountain slopes of the Savoie Alps and the forbidding Dauphiné Alps.
The Rhône Valley holds areas of great interest and natural beauty. From the sun-baked Drôme, with its ever-changing landscapes and the isolated mountains of the Vercors to the deep gorges and high plateaux of the Ardèche, studded with prehistoric caves and lush valleys filled with orchards, it is a region of immense diversity and splendour. For the energetic there are cycling, horse riding and even white-water rafting opportunities, while for the more leisurely inclined, the remote areas are a haven for bird watching and walking.
Lying between the Rhône Valley and the Alpine borders with Switzerland and Italy are the old provinces of Savoie and Dauphiné. These are areas of enormous granite outcrops, deeply riven by spectacular glacier hewn valleys and hailed as some of the world’s leading winter playgrounds. Despite development, great care has been taken to blend the old with the new and many traditional villages still retain their charm and historical interest. For many, it is an opportunity to escape the crowds and enjoy some clean air, unusual wildlife and stunning views.
